Tan families gathering dinner.

February 14th 2010

It's been more than a decade that four families of Tans gathered together during the first day of Chinese New Year yearly. The first time when I followed HB for the yearly CNY gathering was before PS was born. Now, she had turned 12 years old, able to own her identity card too. Time really flies. Adults are aging and children are growing up.

2010 dinner gathering was held at Rose & Ali Ikan Bakar, No 7,Crystal Bay,Sg Punggur Alai,Melaka. It was the most recommended place for ikan bakar in Melaka. The whole area were flooded with crowds.
My best shot but yet the photo was dark.
end of the long table were children of different families but same surname as Tans.
From the shadow, it's Abigail and PS ( left to right seating)
Jin Hui and HB are in charge of choosing the seafood for dinner. Wonder what are they taking?
Negotiating the prices or informing the way to cook the seafood?
The prices are written clearly on the yellow board.
Besides seafood, nasi lemak could be found on the table.
There goes Abigail and PS, better and clearer view of them.
First arrival of seafood, the bamboo lala.
Then the crispy fried ikan pari( sting ray) and another kind of fish with chilly topping.
Now, two plates of ikan bakar on the table. The children couldn't finish or maybe don't like the fish and pass over to adults to finish it.

Light House in Tanjung Tuan

How many of us knew of the light house existence and it's history behind it? According to the stated board, Tanjung Tuan or Cape Rachado ( name given by the Portugese) is situated in the state of Malacca. Has a Light House facing the Straits of Malacca. And what follows in the board, then you need to make a trip here to read it yourself.Won't be interesting anymore if I were to reveal it all to you.Sorry readers!

Five of us which were HB, PS, two friends and I intended to take the 1km walk to see the Light House.
Names needed to be registered before the walk could begin.
The journey to the Light House was not easy. The way was steep but none of us give up and with determination, we continued our walk till the end.
Oh no! still not there yet. Never mind, we are able to make it to the top.
Came across the board of historic name of birds which migrates here.
There's even a pathway for bird watcher if you are one of them.
It had brighten our day. We were able to see the Light House. Just a few more steps and we're at the foot of the Light House soon.
The ever standing proud Light House. Notice the small booth for resting next to the staircase.
Tanjung Tuan Light House is the oldest light house in Malaysia. It stands on the highest point of the cape and was build in 1860. Also believed that , Parameswara the first sultan of Malacca, was buried in the area.
From the foot of it, we climbed up the staircases to take a look at the view from the top.
As I looked up, the Light House was indeed tall in height.
Close shot of the Light House.
The view taken from the side of the Light House.
This highest point scene reminds me of Uluwatu, Bali

Kuala Selangor Seafood

It was Ipman's birthday celebration hence he invited HB,PS and I along for the dinner We left the house at half past four for Kota Kemuning to fetch a friend to Kuala Selangor. HB took the Alam Setia > Meru > Kapar > Kuala Selangor.Kuala Selangor is only a small fishing village but with sumptuous, cheap and reasonable seafood.Saw Jetty Seafood Restaurant located at the end of the pix.

Before we step into the Jetty Seafood Restaurant, we looked around the 168 shop. It sells lots of dried anchovies, salted fish, keropok and other dried items.

The address and map leading to Jetty Seafood Restaurant.Though it's far, coming from KL or PJ but the delicious food is worthwhile.

PS and I took a pix to announce that both of us were here too to enjoy the scumptous food.Yummy yummy!
As we walked inner the lane, more shops are selling the dried items. Bought anchovies, salted fish while PS insisted HB to buy the layered jelly for her.
It's almost dark. The Sun had set.
Sunset watching is always the best. So calming and beautiful.
Believe me, all of these seafood were delicious. The pricing is cheap too.

MalFreeMaps Meeting

The long awaited and planned day is finally here. HB and friends had been talking and planning about this meeting day since few months ago. What are their plans? God knows! It's the MalFreeMap 1st meeting in Melaka. The venue is at Old Taste,Melaka. Numberous members turned up for the meeting too. A big cake was brought by a member.

Each of the member are seen busying away with their own chores.
One of them started off by putting up the banner. Looks like a big event, isn't it?
Finally, we are able to see the well organised banner and read it.
From the images, I could say that these guys must be having a nice time.
Not one man but many men at work on the table.
Another pix of MFM meeting taken from far.
Still wondering what are they discussing so far? Do you have any idea?
This girl was camera shy out of a sudden but after a few persuasion by me, she overcome her problem.

See! PS is already posing.
