Gunung Sibayak Part 2-Day 2

23rd December 2011

When there's a will. there's a way. We had made it to the peak of the Mount Sibayak. Never believe that I trekked the jungle and reached the peak but indeed " I DID IT".

Part of the sulfur found. We had climbed Mount Sibayak on 2011.
Sulfur and heavy smoke coming from the volcano ring. The sulfur smell strong.
Let there be peace to the world.
Peace and no war.
HB looked tired and sweating.
That's our guide in the middle.
The boiling water.
I stepped here, the peak of Mount Sibayak.

Worth the climb, no regrets.

What a beauty.
Good climb.
Lots of photo view.
Time to trek down again.
Trekking down were so much easier.
I managed myself compared to the earlier parts of the trek.
A few steps reaching the main road.
Walking down was easy but needed lots of control due to the steepness.

Gunung Sibayak Part 1- Day 2

23rd December 2011

Mountain trekking day. All set to go and took a shot outside the hotel room while waiting for HB to lock up the room.

Morning shot at 0822hours before proceeding to the hotel .
HB and Piew-Sze finished their breakfast but I didn't. It was too spicy for me.
Besides the fried bee hoon was simple, main problem was it was extremely spicy.
Our tour guide, Mr Marison Sitepu. Look for him if you are in Berastagi as he is a nice, good and friendly guy.
The starting point to the trekking. Thank goodness, we could drove in by jeep until the foot of the trek.
Those trekking in by foot will take about 3hours walk. Climbing up the mountain takes one and a half hour up to the peak.
Some soil erosion area. HB and the tour guide got us a walking stick for the climb.
All sort of area to go through for trekking.
HB got himself a walking stick too. Thought I'm the only person who needed it but guess I'm not.
We climbed up the rock on the left . Wondered where it leads on the straight road?

Berastagi,Indonesia Day 1

22nd December 2011

AirAsia landed at Medan Polonia Airport at 0945hours.
Outside the airport. Walking further out to get a public transport as not so costly.
This transport took us to the public bus depot heading for Berastagi, Indonesia.
Oh no! such a scene inside the bus and so crowded like sardin. Supposed to be an air cond bus but turned out that the passengers opened the side windows and soon it became an oven. First and last time be taking this kind of bus. After the long exhausted bus ride, we stopped along the main road to check into the hotel. The room was detached from the hotel building thus it took 5 minutes walk to reach or either take the buggy car if it's available.
Outside the hotel room.
View of the room.
The bathroom is spacious.
The church in Berastagi, situated opposites the hotel.

From the church to this town centre of Berastagi.
The small monument was also the round-about where the information centre could be seen.
Point of interest are shown here. HB hired a four wheel and a tour guide for the mountain trekking on 23rd December 2011.
Hired driver drove us to Bukit Gundaling.
Welcome to Gundaling hill.
Same here.
Me too.
And lastly from the Tan's family. A very warmth welcome.
Nice scenic.
Each of us rode the horse at RM8 for a round.
Persimmons are found in Berastagi market too. The different were, the vendor did not wash it clean as found in other country.
The market view of Berastagi town.
An old barber shop were found along the shoplot too.
Another market but this is indeed a wet one.
Betel leaves were widely sold here.
Had fried kueh teow for dinner in a Indonesidan chinese restaurant.
